CRASH AND BURN

I've lost count of the amount of times I have been told to back up any important files on my computer, well no one told me personally but you know what I mean.  Unfortunately, I have had to learn the wisdom of this the hard way.  Two weeks ago my laptop crashed (and no, it was not from over use).  The hard drive was shot so I lost almost everything.  Thank goodness I had my photos stored on an external hard drive.  I did lose fourteen pages of my personal history I had been writing.  This wasn't what I had in mind when I dreamt of rewriting history.

So people, back up and save your important documents.  You've been warned.

SIX GIRLS AND A CITY PART 2

There's just something about traveling with a group of girls that can't be matched.  Sure six women sharing one tiny bathroom can be a logistical nightmare, especially when one of them in particular likes to take her time in the shower (I won't mention any names Olivia), but the fun an all girl group has together far outweighs waiting for a turn in the bathroom.  All except one of us were related somehow through marriage and it was fun to bond and get to know each other better.
I learned that gas escaping from Emily's butt can clear a room pretty fast (she tried to tell us that it was also her feet), that Natalie is forever bopping around to music she hears in her head (better than voices I guess), that Olivia has some creative uses for clementines (I'd post pictures but I promised...), that Brittany can suck back more than her fair share of a frozen hot chocolate (and anyone else's leftovers), and that Donna can pole dance (I have video to prove it).   I don't think that I've laughed so hard in a long time.
I will never forget doing the wave in Central Park, dancing in the glass elevator in the Apple Store, laughing at Donna's spills, watching Olivia snatch up the stray M&Ms, adventures on the subway, being a spectator in a road rage altercation, being led down the back streets of Chinatown to buy knock-off purses, and the drunk guy asking his friend "why there be white people in Harlem?"

SIX GIRLS AND A CITY

Our trip to NYC leaves me with enough content for three or four posts.  I didn't realize you could pack so many memorable moments into a few short days. NYC is a wonderful place to visit, it is rich with history and is at the same time both old and modern.  I always leave feeling like I've missed so much even though I've packed in a ton.
Some things I learned while visiting New York City.
1. My powers to corrupt equal total awesomeness.  By corrupting I mean coercing people into doing things they wouldn't normally do but not in a bad way. *smile*
2. My newest daughter in law can steal chocolate M&M's like nobody's business.  In her defense, she thought they were discarded.  At least that was her story and she was sticking to it.
3. I rock at subway surfing. Sorry Natalie, but I stayed on my feet longer without having to hold on to anything.
4. One of my best friends has a rapper name. "2 Splat" Who knew?
5.Times Square is really nothing more than a bunch of buildings with animated, lighted billboards on them and yet it draws tourists to it like moths to a flame.  We loved it.
6.President Obama has his own line of condoms.  They're for the hard times we're experiencing.
7.Dancing up on an elevator attendant provides plenty of entertainment for all involved except for the jealous boyfriend of said elevator attendant.

Good times.
